Class of 2005

Jacob Grana

Years Played:   2001-2005

Positions Played: Wing, Center, Flanker, Number Eight

Jacob Grana played four years of rugby at Bard. His first year was spent mostly on the wing and during his sophomore year he played in the midfield. In his third season, having grown bigger and stronger, Jacob moved to the open-side flanker position. In his senior year, Jacob was MVP and co-captain while playing number eight. JacobŐs long-awaited first try came in the final semester of his career, a moment he later confessed he could scarcely remember as it was too much of a blur in his memory. A witness with clearer perspective will recall that Jacob received the ball from a breakdown, burst between two defenders in the defensive line and ran straight through two more tackles before crossing the try line. The event conveys well the development of Jacob into a complete rugby player, one whose vision, skill, determination and strength made his example on the field one to follow.
